Summary: After the economic and financial crisis caused by the fall in oil prices since July 2014, the Covid-19 health crisis has also had a significant negative impact on the Algerian economy. The partial or total closure of businesses, the halt in production and the increase in short-time working have particularly
affected Algerian companies, making it difficult for many to maintain their activity and generate profits.
The aim of this research project is to examine the ex-post effects of the Covid-19 health crisis on the economic activity of Algerian businesses. It looks at the persistence of the economic impacts of the pandemic, such as reduced demand, changes in consumer habits, and structural adjustments within companies. It assesses the various strategies adopted by businesses, such as cost-cutting, product and service diversification, and government support initiatives, and their success in stabilising and reviving economic activity.
To achieve this, a questionnaire survey was carried out among businesses. The results indicate that the effects of the health crisis are still being felt, and that their impact varies according to size and sector of activity. On the other hand, the capacity for anticipation and resilience has enabled some businesses to mitigate the effects of Covid-19.

Workshop: Startups in Algeria’s tourism sector: A study of digital transformation in Algeria’s tourism sector: the case of startups
The tourism sector is one of the first sectors to adopt digital transformation, as it has undergone a radical transformation, particularly after the emergence of the second generation of the web, which has enabled tourism institutions to interact with customers, giving a great leap forward to the development of tourism services at an international level, this technological development and this great digital transformation have enabled the emergence of start-ups as a new type of business, particularly with the emergence of the Corona pandemic, which has forced and accelerated the emergence of start-ups, while many countries have worked to encourage this sector as one of the solutions for overcoming the consequences of the crisis, In Algeria, Through its new economic policy, the State is seeking to develop a favourable and solid ecosystem aimed at diversifying and multiplying the measures dedicated to the creation and support of start-ups, to make them the driving force behind the transition of the Algerian economy from a rentier system to a model based on other productive sectors and the knowledge economy. The research is an exploratory study of the reality of start-ups in Algeria, with a case study of the tourism sector, with the aim of finding out the extent of the trend towards the creation of start-ups in
the tourism sector in Algeria, and the impact of the ecosystem in Algeria on encouraging the creation of these businesses (study of the impact of the legal framework, support organisations and sources of funding), as this workshop aims to present the most important results of the study.
